FX asked Laundry to expand on an developed look for the the Mayan's next season promo. I was brought in to design and explore looks for the graphics to overlay footage starting with creating the look for a Mayan mask and help establish the final look for the current design. In addition to look development I also assisted in creating cel animations for the ink trails on each biker as well as illustrative embellishments over animated objects in each scene, e.g. cel animations over 3D snakes.
For the ink trails, I used a combination of cel animation via Photoshop and 2D animation in after effects.
It was a long iterative process to really nail the final design, but in the end the client was happy and it was an exciting experience to see my illustrations come to life and work in collaboration with a large team of cel animators, compositors, and 3D animators under the guidance of Creative Director Reza Resoli.
